Irina Amstutz
↪Theatre pedagogy and Somatic Practitioner

I, Irina (she/her), am a theater teacher and somatic practitioner. In both my work as a theater teacher and in the field of bodywork, the body and playing are the central aspects.

For me, the body is a creative space of knowledge, a place for political negotiation, and a site of potential change. Playing, for me, is about experimenting, being courageous, and immersing oneself in one's own and collective imagination, thereby opening new and unknown doors. I try to connect these two areas and express them in various forms and formats.

I often work with children, I am exploring clowning, and enjoy creating theater for courageous shy people. I strive to work with sensitivity to discrimination and to be aware of the societal power systems that are inscribed in our bodies.

I fail and try again. I would like to create a space for potential failure and new attempts for the people I work with as well. My aim is to collectively express artistic forms of our being, embedded in the social discourse, and to place our imagination at the center. Always with the hope of changing things together.
