In “All inclusive,” I will be directing and, as a member of the collective, participating in a variety of tasks:
Vacation: Wanderlust, longing, finally having time and, above all, getting out of Berlin. Escaping everyday life, the constant news, and the feeling of being overwhelmed. But disasters spill over into vacations: Aren’t personal, political, economic, and ecological crises often truly felt in the context of vacations?
In “All Inclusive,” this contradiction, coupled with the post-holiday blues, is brought to life on stage as a relaxed performance. A new form of travelogue emerges: a historically male-dominated genre of narrating the other is replaced by a feminist, multi-perspective, and sensual exploration of the self. Towels serve not only as materials for discourses and personal stories, but also as active participants, rediscovering the theme of vacation.
Towels drip with the most cherished travel memories, are wrung out like bodies under stress, and cleansed of vacation sins. This material performance tells the story of the last shared vacation; a vacation that reflects all the crises and longings inherent in this theme.
A vacation — all inclusive.
